MyMicroGallery is a living / exhibition space by Stefania Carrozzini reserved for artists from all over the world and intended to welcome ideas without borders, a physical and virtual place for projects and comparisons where artists are the absolute protagonists. In my new home there is a small square room of 2 meters by two that stands out from the rest of the house: it has a black floor and questionable functionality. For months I try to figure out what to do, what that small space must become, too big to make a closet, too small to be a living room. On the other hand, my move took place on April 1st. I had to expect a surprise! I don’t believe in chance and I thought that that space was there for me, it was waiting for me, it was the small gallery in the house, with the black painted floor that reminded me a little of the slate one I had left at the D’Ars studio, a place dear to me where I organized many exhibitions, and I met many artists. Two years have passed, just the running time to start my new independent business. I do a little poll around among friends. I ask their opinion on this idea that has been on my mind for a few days. And then here: mymicrogallery starts. Thanks also to all those people who encouraged me to continue.
The first artist to be hosted is the Australian Monique Lovering. I inaugurate his exhibition “The Journey Home” on September 25, 2013. I fill the small room with drawings and, little by little, removing furniture and adding spotlights, my house is transformed into a gallery, so much so that people who visit it ask me amazed if I live here! Since then I have changed almost everything, I have given up on having a large walk-in closet, but the kitchen and the bedroom have remained! Each exhibition is a small move: objects migrate to adjacent rooms and then take back their place. The exhibition space extended to almost the entire house. Microgallery is the heart, the fulcrum, a special place, a magical container where it all began. It is the symbol of the “small in the large” and vice versa. Everything presented in the micro space has a particular charm. It is a sort of bonsai gallery.
This is a choice that can only be made if art and life are not separated even in everyday life. Sometimes it seems to me an extreme choice, where there is no privacy where it never comes off, and instead so art is breathed in and out. my house changes appearance and generating new energies. People who visit the exhibitions find a welcoming space, the inaugurations are a real meeting where anyone is made at ease and feels part of something. This is what work should be in the future: not a time separated and alienated from life, but a free and conscious choice, choice of places and actions, actions in harmony with ourselves and places to work for good and for the beautiful, where the ways of being human are respected and where life is celebrated with immense gratitude.
