MyMicroGallery is pleased to present “Blink of an Eye”, the first solo exhibition in Italy by Swedish artist Josefin Hill. The exhibition includes a selection of fourteen abstract works created in acrylic on canvas.
Through a dance of colors, shapes and spontaneous gestures, the artist explores the concept of capturing the moment and, at the same time, allowing oneself to be captured by the present moment.
Each work is a fragment of time fixed on canvas, an unrepeatable instant that reflects the transitory nature of emotions and perceptions. The pictorial gesture, free and instinctive, invites the viewer to immerse himself in an intimate dialogue with the here and now. The exhibition is an opportunity to reflect on the speed of the contemporary world and the need to stop, if only for a blink of an eye, to observe and savor the essence of the present.
In the entire creative process, there is a component of silence. A silence that becomes a body present in the materiality of the work. In order to do this, one must allow oneself to be guided by an open mind that brings out atmospheres, moods, memories, so that the visual synthesis of what one wants to express emerges into consciousness.
It is a slow process, but also a fast one. It is a path that includes seeking and finding, when in the blink of an eye you grasp that particular feeling between balance and dissonance to build horizons on which the eye can finally rest.
The creative rhythm balances the inner and outer landscape. In this movement it is always the eye curiously wandering, tracing the routes of creation and stopping where a happening of the soul takes place, that something that resonates with the inner self and allows one to control the chaos .
In Josefin Hill’s paintings, it is as if we are looking at reality through a glass, a threshold where nothing remains of the original form but essence and distant semblances. Memory blurs memories, transforms everything, what matters is only the present. Even the most obvious contrasts, the blacks associated with more muted colors are shadow and presence, they cross abstract boundaries, pause where the eye can linger and then dive back into the depth of color then again into darkness and light, like a dance of time.
